China Blue

There are some very nice Shift Dresses arriving in stores at the moment and Missguided online feature some very nice designs.

This one, in particular, caught my eye.  It is a floral blue shift dress, priced at about 35 euro,  and can be dressed up for evening, or dressed down a bit more casual with a pair of flat sandals for daytime once the weather heats up a little!  The model in the picture is styled with white accessories – sandals and a white clutch, but this dress would be equally nice teamed with navy high platform sandals and a blue clutch.    Add a few minimal accessories in emerald or jade, such as earrings or mixed bangles and you could definitely add a pop of colour.  The sizing in this dress is quite roomy, it’s super comfortable, easy to wear, doesn’t wrinkle easily, and would be a great choice to pop in the suitcase for a weekend away or a beach holiday.   The link for this dress is at Missguided  and it’s online now… described as “look standout smokin’ hot in this blue floral shift dress this season. with fanciful v neckline, fierce oversized crepe fabric fit this dress will give you a killer. team with strappy heels, box clutch and silver accessories for a dreamy finish“.  Enjoy girls. x

Lampshade Skirts

lampshade skirt

I think most of us are aware of different skirt styles and trends, and from year to year we see midi skirts, then mini skirts… then maxi skirts, tulip skirts, pencil skirts and skater skirts (to name but a few!) strut down the designer catwalks influencing the trends which will no doubt follow on the high-street, into Dunnes Stores, Penneys (Primark), New Look, Topshop, River Island, Oasis and H&M.

At the moment New Look have very similar skirts in stock, which are sometimes called “Lampshade Skirts”.  The Black and White monochrome version will never go out of style, and it available at the moment both in stores and online for 22.99 euro.

The Camel Check is also available right now, both in the stores and online for the same price.  As it says on-site “Make your mornings simple with this go to check skater skirt for work wear chic – try teamed with a black tee and block heel ankle boots”

– All over check print
– Textured finish
– Fit and flare design
– Mini length
– Stretch fabric

There is also another version here … For daytime styles wear this stripe skater skirt with a white teeshirt and ballerina flats or converse, great for adding prints for your laid back wardrobe.
All three skirts are available from New Look, and are very easy to wear, easy to style and very comfortable (trust me I own both) !!!

Valentines or Galentines

red

With Valentine’s Day looming, lots of you are on the lookout for a killer red dress.  There are so many styles out there, from plain to printed, bodycon to skater, midi to mini – you are bound to find something that you will fall in love with (other than your partner) for Valentine’s!  Red Lace is a particular favourite of mine, although sometimes depending on the style you might find that a simpler shape much more appealing.

Red can be teamed up with a variety of colours, such as traditional black, navy or grey, or a nude shoe will also brighten up red.  Keep accessories to a minimum if you are choosing a red lace dress, but you can be more daring with more decorated pieces if you are choosing a plainer style.

Next have a nice selection of red at the moment, and you could try the Jessica Wright bodycon with front zip if you wanted a plainer more streamlined look.  Lipsy have an alternative with some nice applique to the sides and front.  For those heading out on to a formal event you could try the Jessica Wright lace maxi for added oomph.

Boohoo have very reasonable looks at the moment to incorporate a red dress at affordable prices.   The Ana Off the Shoulder dress is a knock-out look in figure skimming bodycon, or if you prefer a skater style the Boutique Lisa dress would be stunning.

ASOS have a fine selection of red currently – with the Vesper Ronnie Pencil dress reduced at the moment- this dress offers a classic pencil skirt, but with a black lace peplum giving an alternative to plain red.  Closet also have a lovely red pencil dress but with added cap sleeves as a cover-up and not so revealing.

Missguided have outdone themselves in the Red Departments this month, with styles and shapes to suit all ages and sizes.  In particular, the red lace high neck midi is just gorgeous, or if you fancy some cut-outs and can carry it off then the Crepe Sleeveless midi is just divine.

Topshop also have a wide variety of styles, and if you are conscious in the tummy area, they have a lovely wrap skirt version which is very pretty and elegant.

So- if you are planning a romantic Valentine’s night, or a fun Galentine’s night with your girls, then you are sure to be a knock-out in any of those styles.  Have fun ladies x

Let’s get Nautical

The ‘Nautical Look’ never really goes out of style.  It can be dressed up for an evening out, or indeed can be dressed down for a very casual style.  The shops are full of navy and white stripe tops and jumpers at the moment, all gearing up for the spring summer weather.  White jeans can be found almost anywhere, but make sure you try them on, as sizes and shapes vary from shop to shop.  Penneys (Primark UK) have a great selection of very reasonable priced jeans, but if you want to go for the middle of the road price bracket, try River Island , Topshop, Zara and Next.  Team these with a pointy court shoe for night, or a pair of converse for day.  Try adding a splash of colour to bring the outfit to life, with perhaps a red belt or red bag.  Quality striped tops can be found from Shop Bop; Farfetch ; ASOS; or try Boohoo or Missguided for stripes with a different take on the nautical style.
